Designated Leader Scholarship

A scholarship covering up to 65% of tuition costs

Teachers or school leaders seeking Building Leader Certification or District Leader Certification in New York State may be eligible for a scholarship that covers up to 65 percent of tuition costs.

Based on nominations from current school and district principals, superintendents and leaders, the Designated Leader Scholarship program is designed to support the next generation of school and district leaders.

Scholarship features

Provides significant financial support for students equal to the SUNY rate.

Prepares high potential leaders tapped by their supervisors and endorsed by their superintendents.

Available to students pursuing K-12 School Leadership master’s and/or Certificates of Advanced Study programs for district or building leadership.

Provides an internship in the second year of study.

Make a nomination

Existing principals and superintendents play a critical role in identifying the next generation of school leaders. To be considered for the scholarship, school leaders and/or superintendents must nominate and endorse candidates.

Student recipients

Students are considered for the award when a nomination form is submitted and properly endorsed. Candidates must also apply in a timely manner for admission to the K-12 School Leadership master’s and/or Certificates of Advanced Study programs for district or building leadership. Acknowledgement of scholarship award is provided upon admission to the school.
