To Meliora Weekend, our favorite time of the year

Alumni on the Quad at Meliora Weekend

Dear students,

Meliora Weekend is always an exciting time for our campus community as we come together to celebrate the start of a new academic year. It’s also a reminder that even after you complete your journey at the Warner School, you’ll always be a part of our vibrant school community and a lifelong partner in our mission to make the world ever better.

During Meliora Weekend, we had the privilege of honoring alumna Kathleen Parrinello ‘75N, ’83N (MS), ’90W (PhD), president and CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital, with the Warner School’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Her outstanding contributions to healthcare and education make her a true leader in both fields.

I am also thrilled to share that Danielle Daniels, a doctoral student in teaching and curriculum, made history as the first Warner School student to win first place in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition finals held on Friday. She impressed the judges with her impactful presentation of her thesis, “Risk, Practice and Identity of Secondary Minoritized Students in STEM.”

Finally, it was a pleasure meeting with many of our students, alumni and friends at the special “Meet the Dean” event on Friday and leading an insider’s tour of LeChase Hall, a collaborative and beautiful space for Warner and ASE students for over a decade.

As we continue through the academic year, I encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities ahead and stay connected with the Warner community. Together, we can make this year truly extraordinary.

Meliora,

Melissa Sturge-Apple, PhD
Interim Dean, Warner School of Education & Human Development
