Andrea Barrett is a proud alumna of the University of Rochester. Upon graduation, she moved to Baltimore and began her career in higher education at the University of Maryland.

In 2007, she returned to her alma mater to work in the Office of Special Programs and later in the Ain Center for Entrepreneurship as a program coordinator.

In 2009, she helped create and develop the Master of Science in Technical Entrepreneurship and Management (TEAM) program, the first multidisciplinary graduate degree program on the University's River Campus, conferred by both the Simon Business School and the Hajim School of Engineering, for which she served as the executive director for eleven years.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she also directs the higher education program, which includes advising higher education master’s and doctoral students, supervising higher education internships, leading master’s theses writing cohorts, and guiding the Higher Education Student Association.

Throughout her tenure at the University of Rochester, Barrett has been involved in a number of volunteer activities, including chapter advisory board chairwoman of Kappa Delta Sorority, member of Expectations for Excellence Standards Committee, Rochester Network Leadership Cabinet, and member of the Commission on Women and Gender Equity in Academia.
