River Campus

The River Campus is the main undergraduate campus of the University of Rochester. It is located in a picturesque area along the Genesee River and boasts stunning views of the city skyline.

Academic Buildings

The River Campus is home to several academic buildings, including Hylan Hall, Hutchison Hall, Dewey Hall, the Warner School's LeChase Hall, and many others. These buildings house classrooms, lecture halls, and faculty offices for a variety of disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

Residence Halls

The River Campus has several residence halls where undergraduate students can live during their time at the University of Rochester. These halls include Susan B. Anthony Halls, Genesee Hall, and the Hill Court Complex. Living on campus is a great way for students to connect with their peers and get involved in campus life.

Athletic Facilities

The River Campus is home to the Goergen Athletic Center, which has a wide range of facilities for students to use. These include a fitness center, a pool, and several basketball and volleyball courts. The athletic center also hosts intramural sports leagues and other recreational activities.

Cultural Attractions

The River Campus is located near several cultural attractions in Rochester, including the Memorial Art Gallery and the George Eastman Museum. These attractions offer students a chance to explore the arts and learn more about the history of Rochester.

History

The land that River Campus is situated on and the abutting Genesee River have rich histories. The campus was once the site of an Algonquin Settlement and extensive farmland. It saw Revolutionary War activity and was the location of the original Oak Hill Country Club golf course. Near the River Campus location, the Genesee River was used to support the building and use of the Erie Canal. Later, the Erie Railroad was built through the future campus' northern side. River Campus' 154 acres has been an integral part of the University of Rochester, and to the City of Rochester itself.
